The most significant development in audio since the arrival of surround sound is here. Dolby® Atmos™ delivers audiences a more natural and realistic soundfield, transporting them into the story with a lifelike sensory experience. Developed with input from professionals throughout the movie industry, Dolby Atmos represents a dynamic shift in audio, reinventing the traditional surround sound methodology and offering a complete platform for sound now and well into the future.

Dolby ATMOS allows for an unlimited number of audio tracks to be distributed to theaters for optimal, dynamic rendering to loudspeakers based on the theater capabilities. The first generation cinema hardware, the "Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor" supports up to 128 discrete audio tracks and up to 64 unique speaker feeds,the technology will initially be geared towards commercial cinema applications only, but may later be adapted to home cinema.In addition to playing back a standard 5.1 or 7.1 mix using arrays, the system will give each loudspeaker its own unique feed, thereby enabling many new front, surround, and even ceiling-mounted height channels for the precise panning of select sounds such as a helicopter or rain.

XD20 | Media Player

The feature-rich functionality of the XD20 Media Player offers digital media playback solutions for both film audio and high definition video along with built-in networking and pre-show programming capability.
The XD20 is compatible with all DTS film soundtracks and can decode Dolby® AC-3, DTS Coherent Acoustics and PCM soundtracks from video sources. For reliability, the XD20 boots from a solid-state drive and stores film soundtracks locally on an internal hard drive.

DIGITAL SOUND

Our digital sound takes full advantage of digital storage technology advancements by putting data on the medium invented to store it: CD-ROM. Playing the correct sound for each frame of film projected, the system reads time code on the film and synchronizes playback from the CD-ROM discs. The audio integrity is unaffected by film deterioration or degradation - the print plays perfect sound whether on the first play date or the thousandth.
